The instructions for installation suggested that ring shank nails be employed. Although I'm sure that your normal nail will work perfectly, it's always best to go with the manufacturer's recommendations for installation. Installation Temperature
For a proper installation of a shingle it is important to think about the recommended temperature for installation. This is because shingles generally require a certain temperature for their sealing.
For these F Wave shingles we found an upper limit of 50 degrees Fahrenheit 10 degrees Celsius and rising with the temperature of the roof's surface exceeding 70.4 degrees.
The roof should not be set in cold weather. It should be at least 50 degrees outside in order to make sure the roof is properly sealed.
Resize and cut
The cool thing about this feature is F Wave shingles. The shingles have these tabs where you can fold itin half, fold it, and then cut it easily with a hook blade. You can also tear it along the lines if you would like. This allows you to cut through heavier materials.
It's true that the moment you do this, you will get a rough edge to cut along the material, but this is likely the reason why they recommend the drip edge on the edges of the roof.
