The Sales Funnel For Effective Online Marketing

Apr 26

The sales funnel has been an integral element of traditional marketing and business for ages not known. Recently, it appears to me that the topic of funnels being used to promote Internet business is popping up everywhere on the web.

Truth is, people are eager to know more about this marketing strategy and the best way to implement it in their marketing efforts on the internet. Read on to learn more on the sales funnel to ensure Internet marketing success.

What is the Sales Funnel?

A marketing funnel isn't an actual funnel. This marketing concept uses the word "funnel" to describe a sales process, from beginning to end. The term funnel can be utilized to define the process of selling due to its more extensive entry point for "Unqualified Prospects", and an opening that is smaller for conversions in the lower part of the funnel.

The top of the funnel or entry point to the funnel will be people we might consider to be "unqualified prospects" These are people who might require your services or products, but you have never contacted them before. There will be a lot of offers and sales activities in the future, and you'll also have customers who've purchased your product/service.

A lead generation funnel's effectiveness is also due to the ability to track the activities of your customers at various stages of the sales process. It is possible to forecast the number potential customers using the sales funnel by knowing the numbers of qualified prospects at each stage of the process.

A sales funnel will aid you in determining where your sales process is failing or successful, or whether your campaign isn't attracting enough prospects. This information allows you to decide the areas you need to concentrate your efforts and to maintain sales at the required level, and, in turn, fulfill marketing goals. It is a tool to monitor and evaluate the customer's sales process.

The top of the Sales Funnel Front The Sales Funnel Front End

The top of your sales funnel should be the most active component of your process. This area requires consistent testing. Your imagination and resources will only limit the amount of front-end strategies you can develop.

The primary goal of the front- end will be to pull in prospective clients and convert them into buyers further down the sales process.

When a prospect decides to sign up or purchases something you offer and is "qualified". This is the point of the sales funnel that the prospective customer, or "Unqualified Prospect" is qualified leads due to an action that actually demonstrates they have the potential to buy your product or service.

Your front-end must be able drive targeted traffic to your site or blog. Article marketing, PPC ads, social media (Google+ Twitter, Facebook, YouTube), banners and blogging are the most effective ways and tools to accomplish this.

There are a variety of methods that you can use to "qualify prospects who aren't qualified". A squeeze page is one of the most efficient ways to "qualify" the prospects who are not qualified. It allows you to offer something of value, related to your product or services, that customers can get for free or at a significantly reduced cost in exchange for their email address. The items offered range from video and newsletters to e-mail courses, eBooks as well as related reports.

So we see that the front-end of the sales funnel is the place where people are drawn to your sales funnel. The back-end is what we should be focusing on.

The Back-End or Bottom of The Funnel

The bottom or back-end of your sales funnel is the place where most sales and profits are generated. It usually contains your higher priced products. These products are generally pertinent to the same niche, but presented in a different format like video or audio, live interaction, or private consultation.

The primary difference between the front-end and back-end lies in the kind of client as well as the price of the service or product that is being provided.

It is the case that only a small percent, maybe 1 to 2 percent of the people who enter your front-end, will be able to make it into your back-end. This is fine, as this small group will be investing much more in the long run.

It's clear that while front-end products or services can be priced under $100, back-end products and/or services are often priced in the 100s to 1000s. This make the back-end or bottom of the sales funnel the primary source of income for your Internet company, and it's the most reliable and stable part of the sales funnel.

As I said earlier the sales funnel could be as simple or complex as your creativity or resources allow.
